Portrait de Ginevra Benci était aristocrate du XVe siècle de Florence, admirée pour son intelligence par les contemporains florentins. Elle fait l'objet d'un portrait de Léonard de Vinci. Le portrait de pétrole sur bois a été acquis par la Galerie Nationale d'Art à Washington, D.C., en 1967, pour 5 millions de dollars US versés à la Maison Princely du Liechtenstein, un prix record à l'époque, du Fonds Ailsa Mellon Bruce.
